Kuini Te Iwa Beattie aka Kui Wano.
Programme Director.
Singer/Composer/Producer.
I have worked for 30 years in Broadcasting. I started working for TVNZ in the 70s, as an announcer and Reo consultant. I also worked with various independent production companies, which led to me finally establishing my own production company in the year 2000.
I had an interest in working within the radio sector, and started as a volunteer at Te Reo Irirangi O Te Arawa on Saturday afternoons back in 1997. I enjoyed the programming, and was offered a position in 1998. I have been here ever since |

Ko Ngongotaha te maunga
Ko Te Rotoruanui a Kahumatamomoe te moana
Ko Te Papaiouru te marae
Ko Ngati Whakaue te iwi
Ko Te Arawa te waka
I am born and bred Te Arawa with huge whakapapa links to Mataatua waka.
I have been broadcasting for well over 20 years and still going strong. Currently my mahi is to establish an Archive for our iwi and to also be part of setting up a Television arm to our Reo Irirangi.
Everyday I am honoured to come to work and be part of a kaupapa that ensures our iwi and those from other waka who live in our rohe get to hear our stories, our people and our Reo 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Ti Ha!!!

Tena Koutou katoa, I’m 22 years old and have been involved in radio for the last two years. I started off as the breakfast show host on Pumanawa, then moved to the Pulse 99.1 hosting my own show. I came back to Pumanawa as an afternoon announcer on Taiohi tu mai, and am now rowing my own waka as a solo announcer in the afternoon with the changes in Te Arawa FM.
I have experience in television as a presenter, and as awesome as it is to work in television, I absolutely love working in radio, especially when it comes to entertaining te iwi o Te Arawa. Te mutunga ke mai o te pai!

| I started here at Te Reo Irirangi O Te Arawa in 2007 and have been here ever since. I started on the Rangatahi Show/Drive Time Show and recently have moved to the Breakfast Show which is quite different but exciting. I have been trained by staff and Radio New Zealand. Prior to this I worked in Maori Television on programmes such as ‘Pukoro’, ‘Kupu Huna’ and ‘Te Wero o Tihi-o-tonga’. I am a musician and manage a farm as well. Working hard, jamming and a never-ending quest for excellence in Te Reo Maori me te mita o Te Arawa are the things that motivate me. |
